Diamonds gossips: it’s raining jewels

Spotlights, cameras and beautiful artists were once again present at the 78th Annual Academy Awards. The movie-stars wore the best haute-couture and off course, their jewelry. Here are some jewelry highlights from the evening.

Diamonds as heavy as herself
The 60-year-old Country singer, the slender Dolly Parton amazed the crowd with her Leighton jewelry worth $2 million. She wore diamond briolette pendant earrings with old European cut diamonds of approximately 16 carats, worth $1,215,000. Around her neck, she wore a diamond chain necklace with approximately 47.8 carats of round brilliant cut diamonds for $100,000. For her arms she chose the two vintage diamond bracelets worth $265,000. Miss Parton also wore an antique cushion-cut diamond ring, which were $75,000. The best was the assemble of her brooches; a pair of 1920s diamond flower clip brooches in platinum for $12,500, a $60,000 diamond bon-brooch, a pair of 1930s diamond “string bean” brooches, worth $60,000 and a pair of 1930s “string bean” brooches $40,000.

Larger market for retailers: diamonds are boy’s best friends
Bad boy Samuel L. Jackson chose his jewels out of the Chris Aire collection: $125,000 platinum and diamond Aire Traveler time piece and a personalized “SLJ” platinum tie pin, worth $15,000.
The nominee Terrence Howard made his royal presence on the red carpet with a 20 carat diamond ring, worth $1 million. He also wore a 30 carat platinum pear and marquis shape diamond brooch which were $500,000, both from Sol Raphael. Even though Howard was dressed like a star, he did not receive a trophy for his acting performance.
